PEOPLE John Francis by Joana Bonet - Barcelona - 25/07/1990
At 24, he has strong arms like a west ranger, a 2-days beard and deep and serious eyes, born in Chicago US, John Francis is the male model of the year.
He was discovered by Jean-Paul Gaultier two years ago, now he also catwalks for Valentino and many other haute couture designers.
"I worked in a gym to pay the school, when I was 19 some people told me that I should be a model, they wanted to send me to Milan but I prefered my studies". Two years later he arrived to Milan with his books, some people laughed at me 'cause I prefered to stay in the hotel studying instead of partying".
John has learned from life and has his ideals well defined, "there's something special in every person, believing in the human being is the most important thing in my life".
He doesn't consider himself handsome but knows that it's his moment, they are demanding guys with strong features, when it stops I will do other things, maybe a wall streeter, I have also discovered that I could be a representant of models and photographers, being in the other side.
I love this Byblos ad from 1988, it looks like a Herb Ritts picture because of the pose and the cropping but it was photographed by other great photographer, Albert Watson.
