If it were not for photographers like Fabrizio to break the trend of the late 70's early 80's, this erea would not have happened. He wanted his models to look good but be real people at the same time. He once fire a model for trying to cleverly hide a blemish on his face with a carefully placed hand during a shooting. Fabrizio asked him to put his hand down twice and then asked his agent to "unbook" him for the rest of the shooting. No BS from Fabrizio, ciao.
I know stephen Meisel very well. Did not assist him but he was just starting out in the early 80's. Very dramatic (even back then). He always seemed to be nervous and sweating, not sure why. He was only marginally popular at that time.

Thanks for the picture of Thomas Bradley-always one of my favorites, especially in hi-res!
I wonder why the models of the 80s and 90s looked so manly and the ones now just look like skinny bratlets? What happened??
I'm wondering that too!
that's why I really don't care about actual magazines, weird models, excessive photoshop, horrible everything.
:-L
Oh, I agree completely! I'm so tired of the androgenic, pouty, pretty boy!!!!

interesting story, thanks for sharing previews of your upcoming book ;)
poor guy, was he one of the super novas? ;))
IMO the "guilty" photographers of the disaster of today are Steven Meisel and Mario Testino, they shouldn't be shooting men's fashion :|
fashion biz should bring back Bob Krieger, Aldo Fallai, Fabrizio Gianni ....

I like what he did in the 80's and the early 90's but now it's not my thing. :|
